Mushroom omelet

A Mushroom Omelet is a delicious and hearty dish that highlights the earthy flavors of mushrooms. It’s perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even a light dinner. Here’s a simple recipe to make a tasty mushroom omelet:

Ingredients:

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (button, cremini, or your choice)
  • 1/4 cup cheese (cheddar, feta, or your preferred cheese), optional
  • 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped herbs (parsley, chives) for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Sauté the Mushrooms:

    • In a skillet over medium heat, add the butter or olive oil.
    • Once hot, add the sliced mushrooms. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they are golden brown and any moisture has evaporated. Season with a little salt and pepper. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Eggs:

    • In a bowl, whisk the eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper until well combined.
  3. Cook the Omelet:

    • In the same skillet, add a bit more butter or oil if needed. Pour in the beaten eggs and let them cook undisturbed for about 1-2 minutes until the edges start to set.
    • Gently stir the eggs with a spatula, allowing the uncooked eggs to flow to the edges.
  4. Add the Filling:

    • Once the eggs are mostly set but still slightly runny on top, add the sautéed mushrooms (and cheese if using) to one half of the omelet.
  5. Fold the Omelet:

    • Carefully fold the other half of the omelet over the filling. Cook for another minute until the cheese melts and the eggs are fully set.
  6. Serve:

    • Slide the omelet onto a plate, garnish with fresh herbs if desired, and serve warm.

Enjoy your mushroom omelet with toast or a side salad for a complete meal!
